Define: Joint Tenancy:
Written title naming one or more persons as equal owners (called joint tenants), and upon the death of a joint tenant, the remaining joint tenants take the share of the decreased joint tenancy by right of survivorship, regardless of contrary provisions in a will. Joint tenancy is not favored by courts so creation of joint tenancy generally requires exact language. Example: A, B, and C are joint tenants in Greenacre. A dies. B and C are joint tenant is Greenacre and the heirs of A have no interest in Greenacre. The last one to outlive between B and C takes all of Greenacre.
